John “Jack” M. Rehberg age 93 of Geneva Township, passed away on Monday, January 8, 2018 at his home on Lake Como with his wife Elaine (nee Legge) at his side. They celebrated their 72nd wedding anniversary last October. He is the father of five children, Michael (Monica) Rehberg, Pat (Jim) Riederer, Jane (Dennis Busch) Rehberg, Peggy Beauchaine, and Jule (Bill) Marks. His daughter Jule preceded him in death in 2016. He is survived by 10 Grandchildren: Megan and Nate Rehberg, Jon and Jeff Riederer, Nick, Tony and Ted Beauchaine, Sara Busch, and Troy and Caitlin Marks. He is also survived by 4 great grandchildren: Evan Riederer, Nick Beauchaine, Jr., John and Harper Beauchaine. His brother, Richard “Dick” (Betty) Rehberg survives him, while his sister Mary (Art Rummel) and brother Donald (Vic) Rehberg preceded him in death. He grew up in the English Settlement in Racine County, the son of George and Nellie (nee Stenhouse) Rehberg on the family farm that has remained in the family since 1841. He graduated from Burlington High School. From 1949 to 1988 he worked in Franksville, (where he built a house and raised his family), as the Standard Oil Company fuel distributor. He was the Franksville Business person of the year in 1982. He was a founding member of the Caledonia Volunteer Fire Department (retiring in 1986) and served on the Thompsonville Grade School Board. He and his extended family have been enjoying life on Lake Como since 1960. There was always room at the table for one more guest. His wife and family would like to thank Dr. Garth Schneider and Aurora At Home Hospice for their excellent care, thoughtfulness and compassion. Visitation will be held at the Steinke-Lazarczyk Funeral Home (515 Center St., Lake Geneva) on Saturday, January 20, 2018 from 2-3 p.m. with a memorial service at 3 p.m. with Pastor Ebenezer Insor officiating. A continued celebration of life will follow at the Horticultural Hall in Lake Geneva from 4-6 p.m. Burial will be at the English Settlement Cemetery in the Township of Dover at a later date.
